This measures 20mm the same as the outlet. The jubilee clip is included and is recommended to secure it.

What is it, and what does it fit?

A silicone blanking cap for the oil cooler take-off on the Land Rover TD5 engine, as fitted to the Discovery 2 and Defender. It is listed against OE part number PYB500040, which is the surest way to match it.

What size is it?

20mm, matching the outlet it blanks. It is a push-on cap rather than a threaded plug, so it seats over the stub and is held by the clip.

Is it reinforced?

This is the unreinforced silicone version. If you want a thicker, stronger cap we also stock the 3 ply reinforced blanking plug, which measures 18mm and goes on as a tight fit - worth the few pounds more if the vehicle works hard or the plug is difficult to get back to.

Does it come with a clip?

Yes - a jubilee clip is included, and we recommend fitting it. A blanking cap is holding back hot oil under pressure and is not something to leave relying on the fit alone.

Why blank the oil cooler take-off?

Usually because the oil cooler or its lines have been removed, rerouted or are being deleted during an engine change or rebuild. Capping the port properly is the difference between a tidy job and an oil leak over the chassis.
