FAQ

Ordering & Payment

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept all the major credit and debit cards — Visa, Mastercard and American Express — plus Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal, Shop Pay, Klarna and UnionPay.

Bank transfer is also fine if you’d prefer. Full details are on our Payment Methods page. The same options are available at our trade counter.

Can I pay by bank transfer?

Yes. Our bank details are listed on the Payment Methods page — please quote your order number as the payment reference so we can match it up.

Orders awaiting a bank transfer are held for 10 business days. If payment hasn’t reached us by then the order is cancelled automatically and the stock released, so let us know if you need longer.

Do your prices include VAT, and can I get a VAT invoice?

All prices shown on the site include UK VAT at 20%. The VAT element is broken out at checkout and on your order confirmation.

We can send a full VAT invoice for any order — just contact us with your order number. Our VAT number is GB 334 6460 06 (registered entity: A P Motorstore Ltd).

Can I change or cancel my order?

Usually, yes — but please tell us as quickly as you can. We pick and pack fast, and once an order has been picked we can’t always pull it back off the line.

Call 01924 496111 or use live chat rather than email if the order went in today; that’s the quickest way to catch it. If it has already been dispatched it becomes a return — see our Returns page.

Do I need an account to place an order?

No — you can check out as a guest and never create a password if you’d rather not.

Creating an account is handy if you order regularly, though: it keeps your delivery addresses saved, stores your order history so you can look up what size you bought last time, and makes reordering a couple of clicks.

Is it safe to pay on your website?

Yes. Payments are handled by Shopify’s PCI-compliant checkout over an encrypted connection, and card details are never stored on our systems — we never see your full card number.

If you’d rather not enter card details at all, PayPal, Klarna, Shop Pay, Apple Pay, Google Pay and bank transfer are all available.

My payment was declined — what should I do?

Nothing is taken from your account on a declined attempt, even if you see a pending authorisation — that drops off on its own within a few days.

  • Check the card number, expiry and CVV, and make sure the billing address matches the address your bank holds — that’s the most common cause.
  • Watch for a 3-D Secure prompt from your bank in a text or banking app.
  • Try a different card or payment method.

Still stuck? Call us on 01924 496111 and we’ll sort it out with you.

How do I use a discount code?

Enter it in the discount code box at checkout and press apply — the total updates before you pay. Only one code can be used per order.

Codes can’t be applied to an order that’s already been placed, so if you missed it, get in touch straight away and we’ll see what we can do.

Can I order over the phone?

Yes. Call 01924 496111, Monday to Friday 10am–4pm, and we’ll take the order with you — useful if you want a second opinion on sizing before you commit.

You’re also very welcome to buy across our trade counter in Mirfield, where the same payment methods are accepted.

Can I get a quote before I order?

Of course. Send us the part numbers or a description of what you need, the quantities, and your delivery postcode, and we’ll come back with a written quote or proforma invoice.

That’s the usual route for businesses that need paperwork before raising a purchase order. Email web@siliconehoseuk.co.uk or use the contact page.

I haven’t received an order confirmation

Confirmations go out automatically within a few minutes of checkout. If it hasn’t arrived, check your spam or junk folder first — that’s where the vast majority end up.

If it’s genuinely not there, it’s usually a typo in the email address at checkout. Contact us with your name and postcode and we’ll find the order and resend it.

Products & Sizing

How do I measure for the right size?

Silicone hose is sized by its internal diameter (ID) — the bore. So measure the outside of the metal pipe, spigot or stub the hose has to slide over, and order that size.

Don’t measure the outside of your old hose: silicone comes in different wall thicknesses and ply counts, so the outside diameter varies while the bore stays the same. If the old hose has swollen or perished, the reading will be off too.

Not sure? Send us the measurement and a photo and we’ll confirm before you buy.

What’s the difference between ID and OD?

  • ID (internal diameter) is the bore — the hole through the middle. Silicone and rubber hose is always ordered by ID.
  • OD (outside diameter) is the outside of the tube. Aluminium and metal pipe, ducting and joiners are usually ordered by OD.
  • Wall thickness is the difference between the two, divided by two.

So a silicone hose with a 51mm ID will fit over a 51mm OD alloy pipe. Every product page lists the exact figures in its size table.

Can I use standard silicone hose for fuel or oil?

No. Standard silicone is excellent with coolant, water, air and boost, but it swells and breaks down in contact with petrol, diesel or oil — and that includes breather and catch-can lines, which carry oil mist.

For anything with hydrocarbons in it use our Fuel & Oil range, which has a fluorosilicone liner built to SAE J30 R6 and handles modern E5 and E10 ethanol-blended petrol. Our standard silicone range is built to SAE J20 R3.

How much heat and pressure will your hose take?

Our standard silicone hose is a 3- and 4-ply reinforced construction built to SAE J20 R3 — designed for engine coolant, intercooler and induction work, where it comfortably outlasts the original rubber.

Working and burst pressure vary by bore — a small-bore hose holds far more pressure than a large one with the same wall. The exact figures for every size are in the specification table on each product page. If you’re working near the limits, get in touch and we’ll check it with you.

What colours and sizes do you stock?

Our core silicone range comes in blue, black and red, with wrapped-finish and specialist ranges alongside it. Our Fuel & Oil hose is black only.

Silicone couplers run from 13mm up to 152mm bore, and moulded elbows are available in 45°, 90°, 135° and 180° from 6mm upwards. Aluminium joiners and pipe run from 8mm to 102mm OD. Use the filters on any collection page to narrow by size and colour.

Do I need hose clips as well?

Yes — clips aren’t included with hose unless the listing says so, and on a soft material like silicone the clip matters more than people expect.

  • Worm drive clips are fine for low-pressure coolant, water and general use.
  • T-bolt clamps are the right choice for boost, intercooler pipework and anywhere the joint has to hold real pressure.

Size the clip to the outside diameter of the hose once it’s fitted, not the bore.

Do you sell hose by the metre?

Yes. We stock straight silicone hose in 1 metre lengths in both standard and classic wrapped finishes, alongside the moulded couplers, elbows, reducers and joiners.

Straight hose will take a gentle curve, but every bore has a minimum bend radius — force it tighter and it kinks, restricting flow and creating a stress point. For a real change of direction, use a moulded elbow.

Do you offer a guarantee on your products?

We stand behind everything we sell. If a part fails because of a manufacturing fault, contact us with your order number and some photos and we’ll put it right — replacement or refund.

What we can’t cover is damage from incorrect fitment, the wrong hose specified for the job (standard silicone on a fuel line, for example), or fair wear and tear. Your statutory rights as a consumer are unaffected.

What else do you sell besides silicone hose?

Rather a lot — we’re a hose and pipe distributor, not just a silicone shop:

  • Rubber hose — heater, fuel filler, LPG, airline, air brake and servo, marine fuel & oil to ISO 7840, stainless overbraid and wire-reinforced coolant hose.
  • Alloy and stainless pipe — 1 metre straight pipe, beaded and unbeaded joiners, T-pieces, and 45° and 90° elbows.
  • PVC and ducting — braided and wire-reinforced PVC, corrugated pond hose, polyurethane and semi-flexible aluminium ducting.
  • Layflat hose, air filters, and a full range of clips and clamps.

Do you sell reducers, joiners and T-pieces?

Yes — silicone reducers for stepping between two bores, straights and joiners for connecting two pipes, and aluminium T-pieces for taking a branch off a run.

Between reducers, elbows, couplers and joiners you can usually build a route around almost anything without needing a bespoke hose made.

Can I cut silicone hose to length?

Yes, and most people do. Mark your line right the way round the hose first, then cut in one confident pass with a sharp blade or a hose cutter — a blunt blade drags and leaves a ragged edge that won’t seal.

Cut on a straight section, never through a bend or a bead, and leave enough length for the hose to sit fully over the spigot with the clip behind the bead or barb.

Will it fit my exact vehicle?

Some of our listings are vehicle-specific and say so in the title — those are made to replace a particular original part. The rest of the range is universal and sold by bore size, so it fits anything with a matching spigot.

If you’re not sure which you’re looking at, tell us the vehicle, engine and what the hose does, and measure the pipe it fits over. We’ll confirm before you spend anything.

What’s the difference between standard and classic wrapped hose?

It’s the outer finish. Standard hose has the smooth, modern moulded surface most people expect. Classic wrapped hose carries the textured, cloth-wrapped look of a period original — the right choice on a classic or restoration where a glossy modern hose would look wrong.

Underneath, the construction and the reinforcement are the same. It’s an appearance choice, not a performance one.

Is your hose suitable for drinking water or food use?

Our range is supplied for automotive, industrial and general engineering use. We do not supply it as certified for potable (drinking) water or food contact, and it shouldn’t be specified for those jobs on the assumption that it is.

If you have a food, drink or potable-water application, talk to us first — tell us what’s flowing through it and what approval you need, and we’ll tell you honestly whether we can help.

Delivery & Collection

How much is delivery and how long does it take?

  • Standard — FREE on orders over £40, £4.95 below that. Arrives within 2–4 working days.
  • Premium — £9.95 on any order. Next working day by Parcelforce or Royal Mail when ordered before 3pm.
  • Highlands & Islands — £10 on all orders up to 15kg, within 3–5 working days.

Deliveries run Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays. Larger orders occasionally arrive in more than one consignment. Full details are on the Shipping & Delivery page.

What’s the cut-off for next working day delivery?

3pm, Monday to Friday. Choose Premium Shipping at checkout and order before 3pm and your parcel goes out the same day for next-working-day delivery.

Orders placed after 3pm, at the weekend or on a public holiday are dispatched the next working day. Premium isn’t available to the Scottish Highlands, the Islands or international addresses — the couriers don’t run the service there.

Do you deliver to the Scottish Highlands and Islands?

Yes — £10 on all orders up to 15kg, arriving within 3–5 working days. The full postcode list is on the Shipping & Delivery page and covers the AB, IV, KW, PA, PH, HS, IM, KA, TR and ZE ranges among others.

If a parcel is unusually heavy the carrier may charge us more than the £10 covers. We will never quietly take extra from your card — we’ll email you first and you can decide.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes, worldwide. Rates depend on the destination and your order value — the full country-by-country table is on our International Shipping page. International delivery typically takes 10–30 working days.

Prices shown exclude any import duty, tax or handling fee charged by your own country, which is payable by you. If your country isn’t listed, contact us with your full address and we’ll quote you.

How can I track my order?

You’ll get a dispatch email with a tracking link the moment your parcel leaves us. It’s worth checking your spam folder — that’s where most “missing” tracking emails turn out to be.

If tracking hasn’t updated in a couple of days, or the delivery date has come and gone, contact us with your order number and we’ll chase the carrier for you.

Can I collect my order in person?

Yes — we’re at Unit 5 Holmebank Mills, Station Road, Mirfield, WF14 8NA, and our trade counter is open to everyone.

  • Monday – Tuesday: 7am – 7pm
  • Wednesday – Thursday: 7am – 6pm
  • Friday: 7am – 5pm
  • Saturday: 7am – 1pm

Bring the old part with you if you’re unsure what you need — it’s much easier to match it across the counter.

Do you deliver at weekends?

No — our carriers deliver Monday to Friday only, excluding public holidays. An order placed on Friday afternoon on next-day service will arrive Monday.

Our trade counter is open on Saturday mornings, 7am–1pm, if you need something for the weekend and can get to Mirfield.

Can I have my order sent to a different address?

Yes — enter a separate delivery address at checkout. Work addresses, garages and third-party workshops are all fine, and plenty of our customers have parts sent straight to whoever is doing the fitting.

If you’ve already placed the order and spotted the wrong address, call us immediately on 01924 496111 — once a label is printed the address can’t easily be changed.

What if I’m not in when it’s delivered?

That depends on the carrier, but they’ll normally either leave it in a safe place, try a neighbour, or leave a card and take it back to the depot for another attempt.

The tracking link in your dispatch email is the best tool here — most carriers let you use it to nominate a safe place, redirect to a neighbour or pick a different day before they attempt delivery.

Why has my order arrived in more than one parcel?

We always try to send an order out together, but larger or awkwardly shaped orders sometimes have to travel as separate consignments — a 1 metre pipe and a bag of clips don’t pack into the same box.

The parts may arrive on different days as a result. If something is still missing a couple of days after the rest, let us know and we’ll check it for you.

Do you deliver to Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands?

Isle of Man (all IM postcodes) falls into our Islands band — £10 on orders up to 15kg, arriving within 3–5 working days. The full postcode list is on the Shipping & Delivery page.

For Northern Ireland and the Channel Islands, put your postcode in at checkout to see the rate that applies, or ask us before you order and we’ll quote you properly. Very heavy consignments occasionally cost the carrier more than the standard band covers — if that happens we’ll email you rather than take anything extra from your card.

Returns & Refunds

What is your returns policy?

We offer a 100% money-back guarantee. If you’re not completely happy, return the item within 14 days of receipt and we’ll refund you in full. Returns are accepted up to 30 days from the order date.

Items must come back unused, in original condition and packaging, along with any paperwork that came with them. Full details are on the Returns page.

How do I start a return?

Get in touch first with your order number and what you’d like to send back — please don’t post anything to us before speaking to us. You can reach us on our Contact page, by live chat, or on 01924 496111.

The item is your responsibility until it reaches us, so we always recommend an insured, tracked service. If a parcel sent by an untracked service goes missing on the way back, there’s unfortunately nothing we can do.

Who pays the return postage?

If we’ve got it wrong — wrong item, faulty part, our error — we’ll provide a pre-paid label. Please ask for it rather than sending the parcel back at your own cost, as we can’t refund a postage label you’ve bought yourself.

If you’ve changed your mind or ordered the wrong size, the return postage is yours to cover.

When will I get my refund?

We process refunds within 48 hours of your return arriving with us. Once processed, the money takes a further 5–10 working days to appear in your account, depending on your bank or card issuer.

Refunds always go back to the original payment method.

My order arrived damaged, or something is missing

Tell us within 3 working days of delivery, so we can put it right and, where needed, raise it with the carrier in time.

Every order goes out with a packing slip. Send us a photo of that slip, your order number and a list of what’s missing, damaged or incorrect, and we’ll get a replacement moving.

I’ve ordered the wrong size — can I send it back?

Yes. Change-of-mind and wrong-size returns are covered by the same terms: unused, in original condition and packaging, back with us within 14 days of receipt.

The return postage is yours on a wrong-size return, so it’s worth a two-minute conversation before you order if you’re unsure — we’d far rather help you get it right first time.

Can I exchange it rather than have a refund?

We can, but the quickest route is usually to reorder the part you actually need so it ships immediately, and return the wrong one for a refund. Waiting for a return to arrive before the replacement goes out adds days.

Tell us what you’ve got and what you need and we’ll advise which way round makes most sense for your job.

Do I need to return the original packaging?

Yes — items should come back unused and in their original packaging, along with any documentation that was enclosed.

Please don’t write on or tape a label directly to the product packaging; put the whole thing inside an outer box or bag.

Can I return a bespoke or made-to-order item?

Bespoke and custom-tooled hose is manufactured specifically to your drawings, so it can’t be returned simply because it’s no longer wanted. Please check the drawings and dimensions carefully before you sign them off.

If a bespoke part is faulty, or doesn’t match the specification you approved, that’s on us — tell us and we’ll put it right. Your statutory rights are unaffected.

Can I return something in person?

Yes — bring it to our trade counter at Unit 5 Holmebank Mills, Station Road, Mirfield, WF14 8NA, with your order number or packing slip.

The counter is open Monday–Tuesday 7am–7pm, Wednesday–Thursday 7am–6pm, Friday 7am–5pm and Saturday 7am–1pm. It saves you the postage and means we can look at the part with you.

I’ve sent my return back but haven’t heard anything

We process refunds within 48 hours of a return reaching us, and you’ll get an email when it’s done. Allow a further 5–10 working days for the money to land, depending on your bank.

If it’s been longer than that, send us your order number and the tracking number for the return and we’ll trace it. This is exactly why we recommend a tracked service — without one there’s no way to prove a parcel reached us.

Trade, Wholesale & Bespoke

Do you offer trade or wholesale pricing?

We do — there’s a further discount on large orders, and we ship wholesale worldwide, regularly to the United States and Europe.

Send us the part numbers or product descriptions, the quantities you need and your maximum acceptable lead time, and we’ll come back with pricing. Larger orders can carry a lead time, so the earlier you ask the better.

Can you manufacture a bespoke or custom silicone hose?

Yes — we manufacture custom and original-equipment silicone hose. The minimum order is 100 pieces, because every bespoke hose needs its own tooling, which costs between roughly £200 and £2,000 depending on complexity. Tooling is charged at cost price; the hose price itself depends on quantity, with larger runs benefiting from economies of scale.

We can’t quote from a verbal description or a snapshot. Send CAD drawings, templates or the original part, showing section lengths, angles in degrees, wall thickness, internal and external diameters, material, and the exact colour as a Hex or RGB value. Colours outside our standard blue, black and red carry an additional cost for pigment and mixing.

I only need one custom hose — can you help?

Not through our bespoke service, unfortunately — the tooling cost makes a single piece uneconomical. But that’s rarely the end of the road.

Our range is deep enough that we can usually build something very close by combining couplers, elbows, reducers and joiners. It won’t be an exact match for the original, but it’s a good alternative that’s quicker and far cheaper. Tell us what you’re trying to achieve and we’ll put a combination together for you.

Can I open a trade account?

Get in touch and we’ll talk it through. Tell us your business name, what you build or fit, and roughly what you expect to spend each month, and we’ll work out the right arrangement for you.

Garages, fabricators, plant and agricultural dealers, motorsport teams and manufacturers all buy from us regularly, and the counter team gets to know what you use.

Can I buy in bulk or by the box?

Yes — there’s a further discount on large orders, and most lines can be supplied in box quantities rather than singles.

Send us the part numbers and the quantities you want and we’ll price it up. If you use the same handful of sizes repeatedly, tell us — that’s the sort of thing we can stock ahead for you.

What information do you need to quote a bespoke hose?

We can’t quote from a verbal description or a photo of a part — there are too many ways to get it wrong. Send CAD drawings, templates or the original hose, showing:

  • The lengths of the hose and of each separate section
  • The angles, measured in degrees
  • Wall thickness
  • Internal and external diameters
  • The material required
  • The precise colour, as a Hex or RGB value

With that in hand we can quote properly. Send it over and we’ll come back to you.

Why is there a tooling charge on bespoke hose?

Every bespoke silicone hose is built on a mandrel made specifically for that shape. That tooling has to be manufactured before a single hose exists, and it costs anywhere between roughly £200 and £2,000 depending on how complex the part is.

We charge tooling at cost price — we don’t mark it up. The price of the hoses themselves then depends on quantity, with larger runs benefiting from economies of scale. It’s also why the minimum order is 100 pieces.

Can I have a hose in a custom colour?

Yes, for a bespoke order. Our standard colours are blue, black and red, and anything outside those carries an additional cost — we have to buy the pigment, mix it and create a workable material before your hose can be made.

Give us the colour as a Hex or RGB value rather than a name. “BMW blue” means several different things; #0026AD means one.

How long does a wholesale or bespoke order take?

We aim to dispatch wholesale orders as quickly as we do everything else, but the size of some orders means there can be a lead time while stock is brought together. Tell us your maximum acceptable lead time when you enquire and we’ll be straight with you about whether we can hit it.

Bespoke manufacture is longer again, because tooling has to be made first. We’ll confirm the timescale as part of the quote, before you commit to anything.

Do you supply original-equipment and manufacturing customers?

Yes — alongside our own range we manufacture original-equipment silicone hose to customers’ own specifications, on the same 100-piece minimum and tooling basis as any other bespoke part.

If you’re specifying hose into a production build, talk to us early. It’s far cheaper to get the geometry right at drawing stage than after the tool has been cut.

Do you ship wholesale orders overseas?

We do — we offer worldwide wholesale and ship regularly to the United States and across Europe.

Freight on a wholesale consignment is quoted per order rather than taken from the standard rate table, so send us the parts, quantities and delivery address and we’ll price the lot together.

About Us & Getting in Touch

Who are Silicone Hose UK?

We’re a UK distributor of hose and pipe, based in Mirfield, West Yorkshire. Alongside silicone hose we stock rubber hose, metal and aluminium pipe, ducting, PVC and layflat hose, filters, and the clips and clamps to hold it all together.

Everything is held in our own warehouse and sold across our trade counter as well as online, so the advice you get comes from people who handle the parts every day.

How do I get in touch?

Live chat is quickest — use the chat bubble at the bottom of any page. You can also email web@siliconehoseuk.co.uk or call 01924 496111.

Customer service is open Monday to Friday, 10am–4pm. Emails that arrive inside those hours are normally answered the same working day; anything overnight or at the weekend is picked up the next working morning. Everything you need is on our Contact page.

Where are you based?

Unit 5 Holmebank Mills, Station Road, Mirfield, West Yorkshire, WF14 8NA.

It’s a real warehouse with a real trade counter, not a drop-ship address — the stock is here and you’re welcome to come and look at it.

What are your opening hours?

Customer service (phone, email and live chat): Monday to Friday, 10am–4pm.

Trade counter:

  • Monday – Tuesday: 7am – 7pm
  • Wednesday – Thursday: 7am – 6pm
  • Friday: 7am – 5pm
  • Saturday: 7am – 1pm

The website takes orders 24 hours a day, and anything placed before 3pm on a working day can go out the same day on Premium Shipping.

How quickly will you reply to my message?

Emails and messages that arrive during customer service hours are normally answered the same working day. Anything that comes in overnight, at a weekend or on a public holiday is picked up the next working morning.

If it’s urgent — a vehicle off the road, an order that needs stopping — call 01924 496111 or use live chat rather than email.

Can I get technical advice before I buy?

Yes, and we’d much rather you asked. Tell us what the hose has to do, what’s flowing through it, roughly what temperature and pressure it sees, and the size of the pipe it fits over.

Photos and a tape measure help enormously. It takes us a couple of minutes and saves you a return.

Are you part of a larger company?

Silicone Hose UK is a trading name of A P Motorstore Ltd, based at Holmebank Mills in Mirfield. Our VAT number is GB 334 6460 06.

That’s the name that will appear on your invoice and, depending on your payment method, on your bank statement — so don’t be alarmed if it doesn’t say Silicone Hose UK.

Where can I read reviews, or leave one?

Our customer reviews are collected on our reviews page, and product-specific reviews appear on the individual product pages.

After your order arrives you’ll get an invitation to review it. Good or bad, we read them — and if something has gone wrong we’d honestly rather you told us directly so we can fix it.

Do you send emails, and how do I stop them?

Only if you’ve asked us to. If you sign up to our newsletter you’ll get occasional emails about new products and offers — not a daily barrage.

Every marketing email has an unsubscribe link at the bottom that takes effect immediately. Order confirmations and dispatch notices are separate and will keep coming, because you need them.

How do you handle my personal data?

We use your details to process and deliver your order and to answer your questions, and we don’t sell your data on. Our full terms are in the Terms of Service and Refund Policy linked in the footer of every page.

You can control how your information is shared for advertising on our Your Privacy Choices page, and you can ask us at any time what we hold about you.

Something has gone wrong — how do I complain?

Tell us. Email web@siliconehoseuk.co.uk or call 01924 496111 and set out what happened, with your order number.

We’d far rather hear about a problem and get the chance to put it right than find out about it in a review. If the first answer you get isn’t good enough, say so and ask for it to be escalated.
