What is a silicone reducer for?
It joins two pipes of different diameters. Rather than trying to stretch one hose over a larger stub or stack adaptors, a reducer steps cleanly from one bore to the other with a smooth internal transition, which keeps flow efficient and avoids turbulence. Typical uses are intercooler and intake pipework where the pipe diameter changes, and adapting a hose run to a differently sized outlet.

What types of reducer do you stock?
Straight reducers, which change diameter over a 127mm length, and 45 and 90 degree reducing elbows, which change direction and diameter in one part. The straight reducers cover 61 size pairings from 12mm to 8mm right up to 127mm to 102mm. The reducing elbows cover 43 pairings from 16mm to 13mm up to 127mm to 90mm.

How do I order the right size?
Reducers are described as large bore to small bore - for example 38mm to 32mm means one end fits a 38mm pipe and the other a 32mm pipe. Measure the outside diameter of both pipe stubs with vernier callipers and order the pairing that matches. Measuring the old hose rather than the pipe is the most common cause of ordering the wrong part.

What if my exact size pairing is not listed?
With 61 straight pairings and 43 elbow pairings, most combinations are covered, but if yours is not, get in touch. We manufacture bespoke silicone hose to order, so a non-standard reduction, length or angle can be made. Send us the two diameters and the angle you need, along with the medium and temperature, and we will quote it.

Can I use two reducers to make a bigger step?
You can, joined with a short pipe section, but a single reducer is always the better answer where one exists - fewer joints means fewer potential leak points and less turbulence. If you are stepping a long way, check the range first: our straight reducers cover some quite large steps, such as 45mm to 25mm, in one part.

What are they rated for?
Built to SAE J20 R3 in 3 and 4 ply depending on size, with a smooth extruded silicone inner layer, polyester braid reinforcement and a silicone outer layer. That gives the same temperature and pressure capability as the rest of our standard silicone range. Like all standard silicone, they are not suitable for fuel or oil - use the fluorolined range for those.
