What is BS6066?
The British Standard covering PVC hose for fluid transfer. It sets out construction, pressure rating and performance requirements, so a hose carrying it has been benchmarked rather than simply described. Our reinforced, wire reinforced and unreinforced clear PVC hoses are all built to it.

What is in this collection?
PVC reinforced hose in clear, black, blue and red at 4-10 bar in 5mm to 51mm; PVC wire reinforced clear hose at 3-12 bar in 10mm to 51mm; PVC unreinforced clear tube in 3mm to 25mm; and the Land Rover Series clear screen washer pipe tubing, which uses the same material.

What is the difference between the constructions?
Unreinforced is plain tube for low-pressure gravity feeds only. Reinforced has polyester yarn braid for 4-10 bar but no collapse resistance, so it is a delivery hose. Wire reinforced has a steel helix for 3-12 bar and holds its bore under suction. Using a braided hose on a suction line is the classic mistake.

What temperature will it take?
-10C to +65C across the range. That is the fundamental limit of PVC as a material - anything hot needs rubber or silicone instead. PVC also stiffens noticeably in cold weather, so uncoil it gently on a frosty morning rather than pulling it straight.

Does the pressure rating vary with size?
Yes, and it is worth checking. The smaller bores take the higher pressure - the reinforced range runs 4 to 10 bar and the wire reinforced 3 to 12 bar depending on diameter. Do not assume the top of the range applies to the size you are ordering.

Is it safe for drinking water or food use?
No - these are general-purpose industrial hoses and are not certified for potable water or food contact. If you need a certified food-grade or potable product, tell us the application and we will point you at something appropriate rather than letting you assume.
