These are available in a range of diameters with a length of 127mm long, allowing you to select the perfect fit for your projects. The smooth inner walls of the reducers minimize turbulence and pressure drop, ensuring a continuous and unhindered flow of fluids.

What is a straight silicone reducer?

It is a short in-line connector that steps from one pipe diameter to another over a 127mm length, with a smooth internal transition. Use it wherever a pipe run changes diameter - between an intercooler outlet and a throttle body, adapting a hose to a differently sized stub, or joining two pipes that were never meant to meet.

What size combinations do you stock?

61 pairings, from 12mm to 8mm right up to 127mm to 102mm, in red, blue and black. That is the widest range of the three reducer types we stock, so if a size exists anywhere in our reducer range it is most likely to be here. All are 127mm long and 3 or 4 ply depending on diameter.

How do I measure for one?

Measure the outside diameter of both pipe stubs with vernier callipers and order the matching pairing - reducers are quoted large bore to small bore. Do not measure the hose you are replacing: silicone and rubber stretch in service, so an old hose reads larger than the pipe it was on and will lead you to the wrong size.

Will a reducer affect flow or boost?

A gradual reduction over 127mm is a far better transition than a sharp step, and the smooth bore keeps turbulence low. What does cost you is the reduction itself - flow is limited by the smallest bore in the system, so reducing down and back up again is worth avoiding if you can redesign the run. Where the diameter change is unavoidable, a moulded reducer is the efficient way to make it.

What is it rated for?

Built to SAE J20 R3 with a smooth extruded silicone inner layer, multiple layers of polyester braid, and a durable silicone outer. That is the same specification as the rest of our standard silicone range for temperature and pressure. It is not suitable for fuel or oil - use our fluorolined range if hydrocarbons will touch the inside.

What clips should I use?

Two different sizes - one to suit each end, sized to the outside diameter of the fitted hose rather than the bore. It is easy to order two identical clips by mistake and then find one will not close. For pressurised charge air use T-bolt clamps at both ends; stainless worm drive clips are fine for coolant and low-pressure work.
