AN6 PTFE Lined Black Nylon Stainless Steel Braided Hose is a high-performance, multi-layer hose designed for demanding automotive, motorsport, marine, and industrial fluid transfer systems. Constructed with a smooth-bore PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) inner liner, the hose offers outstanding chemical resistance and compatibility with fuels, oils, hydraulic fluids, and coolants. The PTFE core is reinforced with a stainless steel braid for pressure stability, and finished with a durable black nylon outer weave for additional protection against abrasion while maintaining a lightweight, professional appearance. Designed to AN6 specification, this hose provides a secure, reliable solution for performance fuel systems, turbo oil feeds, and high-pressure hydraulic applications.

Key Features:

  • Specification: AN6 sizing for use with AN6 hose ends and fittings.

  • Inner Layer: Smooth-bore PTFE liner for maximum chemical and temperature resistance.

  • Reinforcement: Stainless steel braided layer for pressure strength and stability.

  • Outer Layer: Black nylon braided cover for abrasion protection and professional finish.

  • Operating Temperature: -70°C to +260°C continuous service.

  • Burst Pressure: Minimum 3x working pressure for safety margin.

  • Compatibility: Suitable for fuels (including ethanol blends), oils, hydraulic fluids, brake fluids, and coolants.

  • Applications: Performance fuel systems, turbo oil feeds, hydraulic lines, brake and clutch systems, and general motorsport fluid transfer.

The PTFE liner ensures complete resistance to fuel permeation, making the hose suitable for modern ethanol-based fuels and aggressive automotive fluids. The stainless steel braid provides stability under high working pressures, while the black nylon outer braid prevents abrasion and protects surrounding components, offering a cleaner appearance compared to exposed steel braid. Lightweight yet exceptionally strong, the hose is engineered for reliability in high-performance and high-temperature environments. Designed for use with AN6 hose ends, it ensures a leak-free and professional installation in critical systems.

Applications include high-pressure fuel delivery, oil feed and return lines for turbochargers, brake and clutch hydraulic circuits, power steering systems, and cooling lines. AN6 PTFE Lined Black Nylon Stainless Steel Braided Hose is widely used in motorsport, performance tuning, and custom fabrication where durability, safety, and fluid compatibility are essential.

How to measure ID

ID OD wall reinforcement plies ID = bore · OD = ID + (2 × wall)
1
Measure the pipe, not the old hose
Heat and age make a used hose swell and go out of round. Take your reading across the metal outlet the hose slides onto — that measurement is your ID.
2
Use vernier calipers
Set the outer jaws across the widest point of the pipe. A tape measure round a curve reads low by a millimetre or two — enough to buy the wrong size.
3
Take three readings, keep the largest
Rotate 60° between each. If they disagree the pipe is oval; size to the biggest figure so the hose still seals.
4
Round to the nearest listed bore
Never go up: a bore wider than the fitting will not grip, whatever the hose is made of. If you land between listed sizes take the smaller bore, and secure it with a clip.
Order by ID, always. Every hose on this site is listed by internal diameter. OD is given for clearance only — it changes with wall thickness and ply count, so it is never the ordering size. On reducers, quote both ends, largest first.

What is PTFE braided hose?

An AN6 hose with a PTFE inner tube inside a stainless steel braid, finished with a black nylon cover. PTFE is chemically inert and essentially impermeable, which makes it the choice for aggressive fuels and anywhere permeation through the hose wall is a problem.

When do I need PTFE rather than rubber-lined?

For E85, methanol and race fuels, for high-pressure fuel injection, and where fuel smell through the hose wall is unacceptable. It is also better for long-term storage, since it does not degrade with age or ethanol content.

Why the black nylon cover?

Bare stainless braid is abrasive and will saw through anything it rests against - a painted panel, a loom, a brake line. The nylon cover protects surrounding components, is far kinder on your hands when routing, and looks tidier in a finished engine bay.

What fittings does it need?

AN6 hose ends designed specifically for PTFE. The olive and collet arrangement differs from rubber-lined AN hose, and using the wrong ends is a common and expensive mistake - the joint will leak or let go. Check your fittings are PTFE-specific before assembling.

How do I cut it?

Wrap the cut area tightly in tape, cut through the tape with a sharp cut-off wheel or proper hose shears, then remove the tape. That stops the braid fraying. Take care not to crush or distort the PTFE liner - a deformed liner will not seal in the fitting.

Is it as flexible as rubber hose?

No, noticeably less. PTFE has a larger minimum bend radius and does not flex as freely, so routing needs more planning and gentler sweeps. Do not force it round a tight corner near a fitting - use an angled hose end instead.
