Flexible Hose Clip Driver

7mm Hex Nut Flexible Shaft Rubber Grip

What is it for?

Driving worm drive hose clips by their 7mm hex head. The shaft flexes, so you can reach a clip that is at an angle - behind a pulley, under a manifold, down the side of an engine - where a straight driver or a socket will not go square onto the head.

What size does it drive?

7mm hex, which is the head on our worm drive clips, mini clips and most standard hose clamps.

Flexible or rigid - which should I choose?

Flexible for access, rigid for torque. If you are working on a built engine bay, the flexible one is the tool that actually gets the job done; the rigid shaft transfers more force in a straight line and is better on a bench or an open install.

How is it built?

A flexible steel shaft with a precision 7mm hex head and a rubber-coated handle for grip and torque. The rubber handle matters more than it sounds - it is the difference between turning a stiff clip and slipping off it.

Will it round off the clip head?

Not if it is seated properly. Push the head fully on and keep the shaft as close to in line as the access allows - the further off-axis you drive it, the more load goes into the corners of the hex.

Can I use it with a drill or driver?

Turn it by hand. A powered driver will run a clip up far too fast and far too tight, and the first you will know about it is the band biting into the hose.
