What is it for?
Rolling a raised bead onto the end of metal tube, so a silicone or rubber hose pushed over it has something to grip against and cannot be blown off under boost or pressure. Essential kit if you are fabricating your own intercooler or intake pipework.

What size tube will it bead?
16mm to 102mm outside diameter.

What material can it work?
It is optimised for thin wall material such as 1.6mm aluminium, which is the wall on our aluminium tube. It will also bead tougher metals including stainless steel, with a little more time and care.

Can I control how big the bead is?
Yes - the top tension knob sets the bead depth. A gentle setting gives a subtle bead, a firmer setting a more pronounced profile. Do it in two or three passes, tightening a little each time, rather than trying to form the whole bead in one go.

Do I have to turn it by hand?
You can, but the shaft can be driven by a drill, which is much quicker on larger diameters or if you have a batch of pipes to do. Keep the speed low and let the rollers do the work.

How far from the end should the bead go?
Far enough back that the clip sits between the bead and the hose end - usually 10 to 15mm. Bead too close to the edge and there is nowhere for the clip to land.
