What is in a gas regulator kit?
A regulator supplied with matching LPG hose and clips, ready to connect. Four options: 21mm butane clip-on at 28mbar, 27mm propane clip-on at 37mbar, propane screw-on at 37mbar, and propane hand wheel screw-on at 37mbar. Everything sized to work together out of the box.

Why buy a kit rather than separate parts?
Because the hose bore, regulator nozzle and clips are already matched. The most common mistake buying separately is a hose that does not suit the nozzle, or clips of the wrong range - both of which you discover with the barbecue lit and the guests arriving. The kit removes that.

Which kit do I need?
It depends on your cylinder valve, not the appliance. A 21mm butane valve takes the 21mm clip-on kit. A 27mm propane valve takes the 27mm clip-on kit. A threaded POL propane valve takes a screw-on kit. Check the valve on your cylinder before ordering - they are not interchangeable.

What is the hand wheel version?
A screw-on POL propane regulator with a hand wheel instead of a plain nut, so it can be fitted and removed without a spanner. That is genuinely useful if you change cylinders regularly - on a catering setup, a market stall or a site heater where the bottle swaps often.

Butane or propane?
Propane for outdoor and cold weather use - it vaporises at much lower temperatures, where butane simply stops delivering gas on a frosty morning. Butane is common for indoor portable heaters and some camping equipment. The appliance is jetted for one or the other, so check before assuming.

What standards are they built to?
The regulators are built to EN 16129, the European standard for LPG pressure regulators, and the hose to ISO 3821. Both matter - the regulator standard covers the relief mechanism and pressure accuracy, the hose standard covers construction. Uncertified gas equipment is not worth the saving.
