Practical products for garden and outdoor use.

What do you stock for garden and outdoor use?

PVC hose in reinforced, wire reinforced, unreinforced and layflat forms for watering, ponds and pumps; corrugated reinforced hose for pond and suction work; high visibility pole hose; drain-down hose; plastic joiners and pond hose connectors; ducting vents; the gutter and window cleaning vacuum kits and telescopic poles; plus builders sand, rock salt, post fix and bulk bags.

Which hose should I use for a pond pump?

Corrugated reinforced PVC hose, in 19mm to 51mm. The embedded steel helix stops it collapsing under suction, so it works on both the inlet and outlet of a pond pump. Choose black rather than clear if the hose will see daylight - blocking the light stops algae growing inside it, which clear hose in a pond invariably does.

What is the difference between the PVC hose types?

Unreinforced is plain tube for low-pressure gravity feeds only. Reinforced braided has polyester yarn for 4-10 bar but no collapse resistance, so it is delivery only. Wire reinforced has a steel helix for 3-12 bar and works under suction. Layflat is a 4 bar discharge hose that rolls up compactly. Picking the wrong one is the usual mistake.

Can I leave hose outside over winter?

Drain it fully first. Water left standing in a coil freezes and splits PVC, and that is the single most common cause of a hose failing between seasons. Coil it rather than folding it, store it out of direct sunlight where you can, and remember PVC stiffens considerably in the cold, so uncoil it gently on a frosty morning.

Is your hose safe for drinking water?

No - the standard PVC range is general-purpose and not certified for potable water or food contact. Use it for watering, ponds, drainage, pumping and washdown. If you need a certified potable or food-grade hose, tell us the application and we will point you at an appropriately certified product rather than guessing.

What is in the gutter cleaning range?

Complete vacuum kits in 1400W and 3000W, aluminium telescopic extension poles, a roof telescopic cleaning kit, a gutter telescopic inspection kit, a pole-mounted camera and phone mount so you can see what you are doing from the ground, and an accessory bag. It is a full ground-based system rather than working off a ladder.
