What is it used for?

Van and pickup floors, workshop and garage floors, trailer beds, steps and walkways, gym and utility areas, and campervan floors. It cuts with a sharp knife and a straight edge, so it fits round wheel arches and fixings without difficulty.

Which thickness should I choose?

This is the 5mm version. 5mm suits a working van, workshop or loading area - it takes the abuse, deadens noise better and resists being punched through by dropped tools. 3mm suits lighter duty, or where height and weight matter such as a camper floor build.

Which pattern should I choose?

This is the circular stud finish. Checker plate and circular stud both give grip and hide marks, which is why they are the usual choice for van floors and workshop areas. Smooth is easier to sweep and mop but shows marks more and offers less grip when wet.

Is it slip resistant?

Checker plate and circular stud provide good grip including when damp. Smooth offers less grip when wet, so think carefully before using it anywhere people step in from outside in the rain.

Does it need gluing down?

Not always - in a van the weight of the mat and the shape of the floor often hold it in place, which has the advantage that it lifts out for cleaning. Glue it if it will be walked on constantly or if edges lift and become a trip hazard.

How do I cut it?

A sharp knife against a steel straight edge, scoring rather than trying to cut through in one pass. Change the blade often - rubber blunts a blade quickly and a dull one wanders. Cut slightly oversize then trim to fit.
