The Plastic 45° Reducer Barbed Hose Joiner is a lightweight yet durable connector designed to link hoses of different diameters at an angled orientation. Manufactured from impact-resistant ABS plastic with a 2 mm wall thickness, the joiner provides strength, weather resistance, and long service life in both indoor and outdoor applications. Its precision 3D-printed barbed profile ensures a secure grip on flexible hoses, delivering reliable performance without the need for adhesives or sealants. The angled reducer design allows smoother hose routing, reducing kinks and maintaining steady fluid flow in water transfer and irrigation systems.

Key Features:

  • Material: ABS plastic for toughness, durability, and environmental resistance.

  • Design: 45° angled reducer with barbed ends for secure hose connections.

  • Sizes Available: Wide range from 12 mm > 8 mm up to 90 mm > 76 mm.

  • Wall Thickness: 2 mm for rigidity and strength.

  • Operating Temperature: -20°C to +105°C.

  • Applications: Irrigation, ponds, aquatics, water transfer, and general hose connections.

Engineered for versatility, the 45° reducer barbed joiner provides secure transitions between hoses of different sizes while accommodating angled routing. The barbed design grips tightly, preventing leaks and slippage, while the smooth bore supports efficient fluid transfer. Resistant to impact, weathering, and moisture, the joiner is suitable for continuous outdoor use in both domestic and agricultural environments. Lightweight and easy to install, it offers a cost-effective solution for maintenance, repairs, and new system setups.

Applications include garden irrigation layouts, pond and aquarium systems, water features, and agricultural spraying equipment. Favoured by landscapers and maintenance professionals, the Plastic 45° Reducer Barbed Hose Joiner delivers dependable performance and long-lasting reliability for angled hose transitions.

How to measure OD

hose fits over OD bore OD = the surface the hose clamps onto
1
Measure across the outside
Rigid pipe, tube and joiners are sized by the outer wall, because that is the surface a hose seals against. The bore and wall thickness follow from it — they are not the ordering size.
2
Use vernier calipers
Set the outer jaws across the widest point. A tape measure round a curve reads low by a millimetre or two — enough to buy the wrong size.
3
Take three readings, keep the largest
Rotate 60° between each. If they disagree the tube is oval; size to the biggest figure so the hose still clamps down evenly.
4
Match the hose to this OD
The hose sleeves over the tube, so the hose you want is the one whose internal diameter equals this outside diameter. A 51 mm tube takes a 51 mm ID hose.
Order by OD, always. Tube, rigid pipe and joiners are listed by outside diameter — the surface the hose clamps onto. Pair one with a hose of the same ID. On reducers, quote both ends, largest first.

Plastic 45 Degree Reducing Joiner Plastic Joiner Silicone Hose UK

Plastic 45 Degree Reducing Joiner

What is it used for?

Joining two hoses of different internal diameters in low-pressure water, pond, ducting and general workshop plumbing.

How do I size one?

Match the barb outside diameter to your hose internal diameter. It should need a firm push to go on - warming the hose end in hot water makes a tight fit far easier. If it slides on loosely it is too small. Available in outside diameters from 12mm to 8mm to 90mm to 76mm, in black, blue, red and white.

Do I need clips?

On anything pressurised, or anything that matters if it comes off, yes - one each side. The barb resists pull-off but does not seal on its own once the hose relaxes with age and temperature. A stainless clip is cheap insurance.

When should I use metal or silicone instead?

For anything pressurised, hot, or carrying fuel or oil. Plastic has neither the temperature range nor the strength for engine bay work. We stock aluminium beaded and unbeaded joiners from 8mm to 102mm and silicone couplers from 13mm to 152mm for those applications.

What is it made from?

ABS plastic, thick walled. That gives good strength for a plastic fitting, resistance to corrosion in constant contact with water, and a low cost. What it does not give is temperature range or strength for pressurised systems.

What temperature will it take?

It is a general-purpose ABS fitting for ambient and low-temperature use. Keep it away from engine bays, hot process fluid and exhaust heat, where you need metal or silicone. If you are unsure about your temperature, tell us and we will confirm.
