Silicone Wrapped Fuel & Oil Hose is a reinforced, cloth-wrapped hose engineered for high-performance fuel, oil, and hydrocarbon transfer in demanding automotive, marine, and industrial environments. Built with an extruded flourosilicone inner layer, reinforced by multiple layers of polyester braid, and finished with a durable silicone cloth wrap exterior, this hose offers superior resistance to fuels, oils, and vapours while maintaining flexibility and long service life. Operating from -50°C to +250°C, the wrapped construction adds extra abrasion resistance and vintage-style appearance, making it ideal for classic vehicle restorations as well as modern high-performance applications. Conforming to SAE J20 R6 standards, this multi-ply hose provides secure and reliable performance under pressure, ensuring long-term durability across critical fluid transfer systems.

Key Features:

  • Inner Layer: Extruded flourosilicone compound for excellent resistance to fuels and oils.

  • Reinforcement: Strong polyester braids for pressure stability and strength.

  • Outer Layer: Silicone cloth wrap for added abrasion resistance and durability.

  • Construction: 3–4 ply reinforced hose with smooth bore design.

  • Operating Temperature: -50°C to +250°C (peak +250°C).

  • Internal Diameter Range: 13 mm to 51 mm.

  • Working Pressure: From 8.3 bar (small bore) down to 4.5 bar (large bore).

  • Bursting Pressure: Typically 3x working pressure (up to 27 bar).

  • Length Supplied: 1 metre sections.

  • Standard: SAE J20 R6 compliant.

The flourosilicone lining ensures compatibility with fuels, oils, and vapours, making the hose highly resistant to chemical attack and degradation. Reinforced with polyester braid, it maintains stability under pressure, while the cloth-wrapped silicone outer layer provides enhanced abrasion resistance and a distinctive finish suited to both classic and performance applications. With working pressures up to 8.3 bar and burst ratings up to three times higher, the hose delivers a strong safety margin in both automotive and industrial systems. The smooth bore supports efficient fluid transfer with minimal restriction, while the cloth wrap enhances flexibility and protects against mechanical wear in continuous-use environments.

Applications include automotive fuel and oil systems, marine fuel lines, motorsport oil breather and cooling setups, industrial hydrocarbon transfer, agricultural machinery, and classic vehicle restoration projects. The silicone wrapped fuel & oil hose is valued for its blend of chemical resistance, durability, and vintage-style appearance. Keywords: silicone wrapped fuel hose, flourosilicone reinforced hose, cloth-wrapped silicone oil hose, high-temperature fuel and oil line, SAE J20 R6 silicone hose, abrasion-resistant silicone wrapped hose.

How to measure ID

ID OD wall reinforcement plies ID = bore · OD = ID + (2 × wall)
1
Measure the pipe, not the old hose
Heat and age make a used hose swell and go out of round. Take your reading across the metal outlet the hose slides onto — that measurement is your ID.
2
Use vernier calipers
Set the outer jaws across the widest point of the pipe. A tape measure round a curve reads low by a millimetre or two — enough to buy the wrong size.
3
Take three readings, keep the largest
Rotate 60° between each. If they disagree the pipe is oval; size to the biggest figure so the hose still seals.
4
Round to the nearest listed bore
Silicone stretches slightly. If you land between sizes, go down to the smaller bore for a tight seal — never up.
Order by ID, always. Every hose on this site is listed by internal diameter. OD is given for clearance only — it changes with wall thickness and ply count, so it is never the ordering size. On reducers, quote both ends, largest first.

What size do I order?

Order by internal diameter, matched to the outside diameter of the pipe stub or joiner it slides over. Measure the pipe with vernier callipers rather than the old hose, which stretches in service and reads large. Available in internal diameters from 13mm to 51mm, in black.

What is it rated for?

Continuous service from -60C to +180C, built to SAE J30 R6. Working pressure runs from 8.3 bar on the smallest bore down to 4.5 bar on the largest, with burst pressure from 27 bar down to 13.5 bar across the 13mm to 51mm range. Smaller bores are 3 ply and larger bores step up to 4 ply - each size is built with the reinforcement it needs, so you do not have to specify it.

Is it compatible with E5 and E10 petrol?

Yes - the fluorosilicone construction handles modern ethanol-blended petrol, diesel, oils and fuel vapour. Ethanol attacks unsuitable hose from the inside, so an older line can look sound externally while breaking down internally.

Can I bend it round a corner?

Only gently. Straight hose has a minimum bend radius and the larger the bore the larger it is - force it tighter and the bore kinks, restricting flow and creating a stress point. For a real change of direction use a moulded elbow; we stock 45, 90, 135 and 180 degrees.

How do I cut it cleanly?

Use a sharp blade or a dedicated hose cutter and cut square in one decisive stroke. Never use a hacksaw - it drags the reinforcement plies and leaves a frayed edge that will not seal. If you have several cuts to make, a proper hose cutter pays for itself quickly.

What colours are available?

black. Colour is cosmetic and makes no difference to the specification. If you are building a full system, order everything together - shades are consistent within a batch but can differ slightly between them.
