PVC Corrugated Hose is a lightweight, flexible and crush-resistant hose for water transfer, pond circulation and general fluid handling. It pairs a smooth PVC inner wall with a UV-resistant corrugated PVC outer wall and a high-tensile plastic rib reinforcement, and comes in nine internal diameters from 19mm to 51mm in three colours: clear, black, and blue (a clear wall with a solid blue rib). Buy it cut to length from 1 metre or as a full coil: 30 metres on the 19mm size and 50 metres on every other size. Operating from -10°C to +65°C (peak +70°C) and made to BS EN ISO 3994-2001, it suits light to medium-duty work around the pond, garden and workshop.

The smooth bore keeps flow resistance low, while the corrugated outer wall lets the hose bend round corners and over uneven ground without kinking. The plastic rib resists crushing and holds the bore open when the hose is flexed, so flow is maintained. Smaller bores carry the higher pressure ratings (5 bar on 19mm and 25mm) and larger bores move more water at lower pressure (3 bar on 38mm and above).

Choose clear or blue when you want to see water moving through the line and spot blockages, debris or trapped air without disconnecting anything. The blue rib also makes the line easy to tell apart from other hoses running alongside it. Choose black for long runs in direct sunlight, where light passing through a clear wall would let algae grow inside the hose.

Typical applications include pond pump and filter circulation, waterfalls and garden water features, water butt connections, aquarium plumbing, irrigation and drainage runs, and workshop water transfer. Push the hose firmly over the spigot or hose tail and secure it with a hose clip.

How to measure ID

Measure the pipe, not the old hose

Heat and age make a used hose swell and go out of round. Take your reading across the metal outlet the hose slides onto — that measurement is your ID.

Use vernier calipers

Set the outer jaws across the widest point of the pipe. A tape measure round a curve reads low by a millimetre or two — enough to buy the wrong size.

Take three readings, keep the largest

Rotate 60° between each. If they disagree the pipe is oval; size to the biggest figure so the hose still seals.

Round to the nearest listed bore

Never go up: a bore wider than the fitting will not grip, whatever the hose is made of. If you land between listed sizes take the smaller bore, and secure it with a clip.

Order by ID, always. Every hose on this site is listed by internal diameter. OD is given for clearance only — it changes with wall thickness and ply count, so it is never the ordering size. On reducers, quote both ends, largest first.

What is it used for?

Water transfer, pond pump and filter circulation, garden water features, irrigation and drainage, and general light to medium-duty fluid handling. The high-tensile plastic rib gives crush resistance while keeping a smooth internal bore.

What sizes and lengths do you supply?

Available in internal diameters from 19mm to 51mm, lengths from 1 Metre up to the full coil (30 Metres on 19mm, 50 Metres on all other sizes), in clear, black and blue. Order by internal diameter to match the outside diameter of the barb or spigot it pushes onto. Full coils work out considerably better value per metre than cut lengths.

What is the difference between the clear, black and blue hose?

They share the same construction and ratings. Clear lets you see the flow. Blue is a clear wall with a solid blue rib, so you can still see the flow and the line is easy to pick out from other hoses. Black blocks light, so choose it for long runs in direct sunlight where algae could grow inside a clear hose.

What pressure and temperature is it rated for?

Working pressure runs from 5 bar on the smallest bore down to 3 bar on the largest, with burst pressure from 15 bar down to 9 bar across the range. The operating range is -10C to +65C (peak +70C), built to BS EN ISO 3994-2001. PVC also stiffens noticeably in cold weather, so uncoil it gently on a frosty morning rather than pulling it straight.

Can I use it on the suction side of a pump?

Yes, for light-duty suction such as pond and water butt pumps. The plastic rib holds the bore open under light negative pressure, so it works on both the suction and discharge sides. This is the key difference between it and layflat hose, which collapses immediately under suction.

Is it safe for drinking water or food use?

No - this is a general-purpose industrial hose and is not certified for potable water or food contact. If you need a certified food-grade or potable hose, tell us the application and we will point you at an appropriately certified product.
