Why buy clips in packs rather than singly?
Cost and convenience. A 10 or 100 pack works out considerably cheaper per clip than buying singles, and it means the right clip is on the shelf when you need it rather than being a trip to the merchant. If you fit hoses regularly, running out of the one size you need mid-job is the expensive part, not the clips.

What types are available in packs?
Worm drive clips in 18 size ranges from 9mm to 12mm up to 135mm to 165mm; T-bolt clamps in 23 ranges from 17mm to 19mm up to 122mm to 130mm; mini fuel clips in 11 ranges from 7mm to 9mm up to 18mm to 20mm; and rubber lined P-clips in 10 sizes from 5mm to 35mm. All available in 10 and 100 packs.

Should I buy a single size pack or an assorted box?
A single size pack if you know exactly what you need and will use them - fitting out a vehicle, a production run, a fleet. An assorted box if you are stocking a workshop or a van and want a spread of sizes on hand. We do assorted boxes in 2, 5 and 10 of each size across worm drive, T-bolt, mini and P-clips.

W1 or W4 - which should I buy in bulk?
W4 stainless if the clips will see weather, coolant, road salt or a marine environment, which covers most engine bay and outdoor work. W1 zinc plated is cheaper and fine for dry indoor and general workshop use. Given that a corroded clip seizing in an awkward place costs far more than the clip, stainless is usually the better bulk buy.

How do I know which size range I need?
Size to the outside diameter of the hose once it is fitted over the pipe, not to the hose bore. Each clip is listed by its adjustment range - for example 9mm to 12mm - and you want your fitted diameter to sit around the middle of that range rather than at either extreme. A clip at the end of its travel has almost no thread engaged.

When should I use T-bolt rather than worm drive?
On boost, intercooler and turbo pipework, and anywhere with real vibration. A worm drive clip concentrates its force near the screw housing and its perforated band can bite into soft silicone; a T-bolt applies even pressure right round the joint with a smooth inner band, and holds tension far better through heat cycling.
